Quarantine Sauce Series: Tomato and Basil Sauce

Hi All,

So this week we are going to make some sauces. In this series, today we will make tomato and basil sauce. Especially this sauce used for pasta. So lets’ start 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2-4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 7-8 chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp crushed chili flakes
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • Bunch of basil leaves, torn into small pieces
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan and cook the onion and garlic until they softened.
  • Add tomatoes, chili flakes, vinegar, and sugar cook slowly 45-60 minutes
  • Add some basil leaves and salt to taste
  • Yup it’s done

This sauce is often left chunky or blended for a smooth sauce. As you wish 👍
